EMP Huakina 2019 Registration Information

Friday 24 May – 5:30PM evening drinks @ Portrait Gallery
Saturday 25 May - 8:30AM to 4:00PM, followed by dinner at a local restaurant

Victoria University, Wellington

$35 (Saturday evening dinner not included)

What is it:

Following in theme of the main MA2019 conference, the day will engage and explore Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its importance to the GLAM sector, and how EMPs can contribute to and impact museum practice. We hope the day will inspire further conversations throughout the EMP group, in our practices and our respective organisations. Further, it will be a safe space to korero about difficult topics.

(See Programme below)

Who is it for:

If you are in the early stages of your museum/cultural heritage sector career, the EMP (Emerging Museum Professionals) Huakina is for you. You might be a student, in the first few years of your career, or someone entering the sector after a career in another profession.

The Huakina provides an opportunity for early museum sector professionals to connect with others at the same stage of their careers, discuss issues relevant to their specific career stage and to bring their fresh perspectives and energy to some of the thornier topics relevant to the sector as a whole.

Subject to supply and demand, we will be offered a billeting option. Please indicate your interest when you register.

Billeters: Make an out of town friend, share your local knowledge. If you live in Wellington and have a couch you could offer to an out of town EMP, please let us know when you register.

Billetees: Make a new friend, get some local knowledge. If you don’t mind sleeping on a couch/on a mat in someone’s lounge, put your name down to be billeted.
